Homework
Dearest Fourth Graders & Parents,
Due to the end of the semester approaching (and my already heaping stacks of papers to grade), we will not have homework this week. HOWEVER, I STRONGLY encourage families to start BRAINSTORMING about the Science Fair.
The Science Fair is a City View tradition. Starting in fourth grade, students are asked to work independently and/or with their families to complete a science experiment and present their findings on a poster board. The Science Fair will take place the Friday before Spring Break in the Community Room. On Tuesday, we will have two scientists visit with us to help students understand the Scientific Method; and to help spark inspiration. More details (including a packet) will be sent home this week. Traditionally, this has been a project that is MOSTLY completed at home. This will still be an option for students who are ready and able to work independently with the support of their families. However, there will also be an in class option. Students who are interested in participating in the in class option will work with a small group collaboratively on a experiment during classroom time (and maybe recess if needed).
This is my first year facilitating a science fair; so please bare with me as we will be learning together.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
Hugs, Bex
