What does CrossFit PE look like in 4th Grade?
In fourth grade, CrossFit PE looks a little different than it does for the younger students. At 8:55 each Tuesday morning, we will board a school bus along with the Fifth Grade Crew. For the first few weeks, both teachers will travel with their crews. However, in October Ms. Laura (5th Grade Crew Leader) and I will alternate weeks. We typically arrive to Coach Chuck's Hillsboro CrossFit Gym around 9:15 and begin our workout right away. In September, students will also set fitness goals with Coach Chuck; and I will attempt to photograph our work throughout the year. The bus returns to pick us up around 10; and we are typically back on campus by 10:15.
In order to be comfortable, students need to come to school on Tuesday (1) already wearing their workout clothes (2) with a full water bottle in hand. Students may also bring a change of clothes and will have time to change after PE if they want to.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about your fourth grader being successful at CrossFit PE. Additionally, if at any point throughout the school year your fourth grader is NOT able to participate, please send them to school with a note (or email one to me). My expectation is that all fourth graders participate to the best of their ability during CrossFit PE.

What is Makers Time?
Last Year, Becca Price (CVCS Librarian) wrote and received a grant to create a portable Makers Space. Makers time is a new movement in education that allow students an opportunity to construct their own understanding of how things work (and work together). Each week, students will be given an engineering challenge and with the support of Ms. Becca, classroom teachers, and parents. students will plan, build, test, reflect, modify, and re-build.
